Graduating with a Masters degree in Arts & Modern Languages from the National University of Ireland, Galway, Cathal Ó Cuaig began working as a writer & producer with Sónta Films. He produced the documentary “Sa mBaile san Ind” in 2008, filmed in Ireland and in Hyderbad. In 2009 he produced the documentary “Ag Lorg Che”, filming in Argentina, Chile, Perú, Bolivia and Cuba. In 2010 he was awarded a place on the European Commission’s “Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs Programme”, during which he worked with Full Emotions Films in Barcelona. In 2012 he was awarded an Artist’s Bursary from Screen Training Ireland to attend Archidoc, a training program for documentary film directors run by La Fémis, Paris (The National French Film School). He directed two television dramas for TG4, “Síle” (2013) and “Grá Mo Chroí” (2014) and more recently a four part documentary series for RTÉ entitled “Sisters of Science” (2014). Recently, he was selected to take part in the prestigious Berlinale Talent Campus training programme in 2013, the 2016 IDFAcademy and Docs Thessaloniki 2017.
